The Solar Living Center, home to the Solar Living Institute and the Real Goods Store, is a world-famous demonstration site for renewable energy, green building, alternative fuels, permaculture, and sustainable living technologies. The 12-acre Solar Living Center is located 90 miles north of San Francisco on Highway 101, approximately 2 hours drive time from the Bay Area.

Directions:  The Solar Living Center, our campus, is located 90 miles north of San Francisco in beautiful Mendocino County.  Recommended airports are either San Francisco International, Oakland International or Santa Rosa regional airport.

From the south: Take HWY 101 North. As you enter Hopland, after crossing the green 2-lane bridge, we are a ¼ mile further on the right-hand (east) side.  Look for the Real Goods Solar Living Center signs and the large solar array.

From the north: We are located 12 miles south of Ukiah on HWY 101 on the left-hand (east) side after you pass through the town of Hopland.  Look for the Real Goods Solar Living Center signs.

The Solar Living Institute is a 501 (c)(3) educational nonprofit organization offering instruction in solar training and sustainable practices.  Founded in 1998, we have been providing professional solar training and a wide array of sustainability courses for 20 years. Our courses are taught by experienced practitioners who bring years of real world knowledge to the classroom with a focus on helping students prepare for job opportunities, start businesses, and live more sustainably.
