Home TR 201: Electric Vehicle Clinic Oct 20-24 2008, 9am-5pm
During this intensive, five-day clinic you will dig deeper into the science and technology behind EVs and gain hands-on experience with different forms of electric transport (i.e scooters, motorcycles, and cars) to help prepare you to build your own electric vehicle. Course topics include: • Energy efficiency related to electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) • Using renewable energy for clean transportation • EV component choices, including motors, controllers, batteries, etc. • The design process in building or converting an electric vehicle • Support and maintenance issues for EVs. The course will also include some basic welding, wiring, measuring, metal work and other tips and formulas required for getting the results people need when contemplating conversion to electric transportation. The instructor will provide the materials necessary to complete a conversion car in a week. Participants will also work on a scooter that they will build, program, test drive, alter the programming and re-test to see the effect of changes on the performance of the scooter,.
