NB 101C: Introduction to Natural Plasters 
May 12-13 2007

After your bale walls are stacked or your cob walls are sculpted, how do you get from the rough building to a finished surface that protects natural materials from the harsh elements? This class will address what types of plasters are appropriate for natural walls; what kind of preparation is required for different wall natural wall types; and how to mix and apply earthen and lime rough-coat plasters. Students will get hands-on experience plastering the earthbag and cob walls of the intern shower-house, as well as a section of one of the site straw bale buildings.
