The Solar Living Institute and Parducci Wine Cellars are hosting Earth Day Festival 2012, "From earth to table, from sun to home!", on Saturday, April 21, 11:AM to 5:PM, at the Solar Living Center, 13771 S. Hwy 101, Hopland, CA. This event will feature wine and food pairing-tasting, presentations on sustainable living and solar power systems, kids activities, presentation, and tours of the 12-acre Solar Living Center demonstration site. This event is free and the public is invited.

Earth Day Fest 2012 Newsletter

Wineries, farmers and ranchers along the Highway 101 corridor in Mendocino County will be sharing their bounty from the earth to table, offering free tastings and information on their organic, biodynamic and sustainable practices. Solar companies, authors of recently published sustainable living books, a green architect, mushroom cultivator and others will be providing presentations and demonstrations on how to bring the sun to your home to help reduce our carbon footprint and enrich our earth. A range of kids activities, including an interactive solar-powered water fountain, pedal-powered bikes, and solar model car races, are intended to engage and inspire.

The 12-acre Solar Living Center, opened in 1998, incorporates our earth's celestial events (solstices and equinoxes) in its design, as well as a number of natural buildings (straw-bale, Cobb, tepee, yurt), 132 kW Solar Array, organic gardens, two ponds with picnic areas, chickens, ducks, and bees. Free guided tours will be presented on the hour.
