PV 100 - Introduction to Photovoltaics

If you are looking for Solar PV training to find employment in the ever-expanding PV market, or to get an introduction to solar, then this course is the first step to familiarize yourself with the concepts of solar electricity. This entry-level course  provides the foundation for the intermediate level of PV training and certification in our five-day PV 200 PV Design and Installation intensive course.

PV 200 - PV Design and Installation Intensive in person

This is our most popular flagship course, perfect for people with a basic knowledge of solar or electrical. If you are looking for PV training and Certification to find employment in the ever-expanding PV market, then this in person course is for you. Or if you are simply seeking to immerse yourself in the concepts and mechanics of solar electricity, this course provides a great foundation. The course follows NABCEP Entry Level Learning Objectives and is Accredited by the Institute for Sustainable Power Quality.

Upon completion of this course you can choose to sit for the NABCEP Entry Level Exam. See below for more info. about the exam (pre-registration is preferred, see dates in next section)

NABCEP Entry Level Test

The Solar Living Institute is an Approved Provider for the NABCEP Entry Level Exam.
 
Students who have completed a PV 200 Design & Installation Intensive course or an Online Design & Installation course from the Solar Living Institute are eligible to register and sit for the test. By passing the NABCEP Entry Level Exam you will obtain an Achievement Document from NABCEP, which indicates proficiency in basic terminology and concepts of PV systems. Exams are given at the end of the PV 200 class and pre-registration is preferred.

Online PV Design and Installation Training
 
If you are looking for online solar training in the convenience of your home or work, then this course is for you. Same topics that are covered in our PV200 Design & Intensive course with the exception of the hands-on portion. See our 3 day Solar Training Hands-On Practicum classes offered separately.

PV 300 - Advanced Photovoltaics

This Advanced Photovoltaics course is primarily geared towards those who currently work in the solar industry or who have completed our PV200 course.  This course is ISPQ Accredited and fulfills the educational component for applying for the PV Installer Certification via NABCEP.ORG. This course is the companion to PV 200 providing more advanced material.

PV 190 - Introduction to Off-Grid Solar

This introductory two-day course provides an introduction to off-grid solar, wind and hydroelectric systems, which—individually or in tandem—allow homeowners to generate electricity without dependence on the utility grid. If you are unfamiliar with basic electricity concepts then start with PV 100 then take this class.

PV 290 - Advanced Off-Grid Systems

This 2 day advanced class in off-grid PV covers the complex world of hybrid power systems to satisfy the electrical demand of off-grid sites. This course is intended for advanced owners/builders and others with PV and electrical backgrounds who are interested in off-grid applications, or for those who have already taken our Introduction to Off-Grid solar course.

PV 201 - Solar Training Hands-On Practicum


Apply knowledge and skills learned in PV 100, 200, 300 or Online. Gain hands-on practice in safety, using design tools, array sizing, installing PV, and balance of system components; working with batteries in off-grid systems also covered.

Prerequisite: One or more of the following courses: PV 100, 200, 300 or Online Solar PV Design and Installation Training.
