Interns are an integral part of the success of the Solar Living Institute. Our interns participate in all aspects of work at the SLI, including: maintaining and improving our facilities; caring for our 12-acre landscape; assisting wtih workshop coordination; assisting with event planning and management;  giving tours to the public and school groups; gardening; marketing, helping in the office; and much more.  Our internships are a lot of fun and a lot of hard work!

Interns come from around the country and world to participate in the daily life and work of the Institute. Beyond the United States, previous interns have come from  Poland, South Africa, Chile, Colombia, England, Israel, Thailand and beyond.  Our internships are open to all people, regardless of background or defining characteristics.  Our only requirement is a positive attitude, matching skillset, and a sincere commitment to making the world a better place.

Interns live closely with each other in our developing intern village and are expected to participate equally in the communal living experience.  Further, interns are provided with rustic accommodations and a minimal food allowance on a weekly basis. Interns do not pay to be a part of the program and there are no fees for accomodations.  In exchange for hard-work and enthusiasm, interns are able to take our workshops free of charge during their internship and throughout their extended relationship with the organization after the conclusion of their internship.
