We are happy to announce that our Online PV Design & Installation eLearning course is an ISPQ Accredited Training Program and is NABCEP approved! Students who complete the online course can now register to take the Entry Level Exam. See the calendar for exam dates.
For over 15 years the SLI has pioneered renewable energy education and training at our 12-acre sustainability center in Northern California, specializing in hands-on photovoltaic (PV) design and installation courses that prepare students for careers in the rapidly growing solar energy field.Continuing a tradition of leadership in renewable energy, we are pleased to now offer an innovative new online course:Solar PV Design & Installation Training. This highly interactive eLearning course will provide learners throughout California and the US with the quality professional instruction that SLI is noted for through this convenient and lower cost new medium.

- Fifteen interactive, scenario-based eLearning modules with practice activities, integrative exercises and assessments.
- Take eight (8) weeks to complete the course on your own schedule; apply for additional extensions if you need more time.
- Access the course for review and reference for 12 months at no additional charge.
- “Ask the Expert;” get your questions answered quickly by expert instructors through email and webinars.
- Apply your learning in a challenging state-of-the-art PV Simulation.
- Other features include: discussion forums, chat room, peer networking, PV installation videos, topical webinars, electronic notepad and useful reference resources.
Students who complete the new online course will soon be able to gain practical experience by enrolling in a special 3-day hands-on PV installation course. Professional PV instructors will guide students through the complete installation of a PV system, giving them tangible practice with equipment, wiring, racking and troubleshooting. Beginning in early 2010 and initially offered in Ukiah, these hands-on trainings will expand to additional locations nationwide as we develop partnerships with other educational organizations.
Following the launch of this first training course, SLI plans to broaden its online course offerings to include a variety of courses in PV sales, marketing, finance and economics.Online courses are also planned for homeowners and seasoned PV professionals.
