Darryl BerlinDarryl Berlin has been an educator and Natural builder for the last 17 years, getting his start in earthen building by participating in a week long Cob workshop led by Michael Smith, co-founder of Cob Cottage Company. Darryl teamed up with Michael and others to restart Emerald Earth Sanctuary, an intentional community in Northern California. While living and teaching there he worked with many Natural Building techniques, including Cob, which was used in many of the homes, greenhouses, sculptural benches and earthen ovens built at Emerald Earth. Continuing to be fascinated with the building possibilities of clay, he is currently bringing earthen building into the mainstream, by working with professional building contractors wanting to utilize straw bale, cob and clay plasters in the buildings. |
